Information on Cookies

What are Cookies?

A cookie is a small set of data that is sent by the web server to the user's browser and stored by the browser on the user's device (computer, tablet, mobile phone, or other), which can be read or subsequently retrieved from the server itself. It allows the web portal to store some useful information within a session or in subsequent accesses that the user makes. Cookies are used to improve the site and to provide services and features to users. You can limit or disable the use of cookies through your web browser. However, in this case, some features may become inaccessible. Why do we use cookies? Cookies can be used for various reasons. In some parts of the portal, cookies are essential and without them, for example, it would not be possible to navigate correctly. In other parts they are used to obtain useful information to provide specific services; in addition, some external services (third parties) they may need to install specific cookies on the user's browser in order to provide the related services. What types of cookies do we use? Technical cookies Technical cookies are those used for the sole purpose of "carrying out the transmission of a communication over an electronic communications network, or as strictly necessary for the provider of an information society service explicitly requested by the subscriber or user to provide this service" (cf. art. 122, paragraph 1, of the Privacy Code). They are not used for any purpose additional and are normally installed directly by the owner or manager of the website. They can be divided into: Navigation cookies They are used to record data useful for normal navigation and use of the site on the user's computer (allowing, for example, to remember the preferred size of the page in a list). These cookies can then be distinguished according to their persistence on the user's computer in: session cookies, those that are automatically deleted at the end of each navigation; permanent cookies, those that have a longer life. Functional cookies These cookies allow the portal to remember the choices made by the user to optimize functionality. For example, functional cookies make it possible to remember specific settings of a user, such as the country selection and, if set, the permanent login status. How do you disable or remove cookies from your browser? Most browsers accept cookies automatically, but you can set your browser not to accept them, automatically or upon request. We do not recommend this deactivation as normal browsing could be compromised and some or all of the features of some sites may not be available. If you do not want your computer to receive and store cookies, you can change the security settings of your browser.
